Overview
As part of WP6, Task 6.1, the UNSPMF team has organized a workshop in Novi Sad on November 12th dedicated to assessing the Willingness to Pay (WTP) for the preservation of Stećci. The event aimed to collect data for the economic valuation of Stećci and to raise awareness about their cultural significance and the impact of climate change on their preservation.
Participants were introduced to the project’s goals and methodological framework, and engaged in lectures and discussions underscoring the significance of conservation and preservation of Stećci as unique component of the region’s cultural heritage. A two-phase survey, administered before and after the educational session, aimed to assess changes in participants’ awareness, attitudes, and readiness to provide financial support for conservation initiatives.
The workshop provided valuable insights into public perceptions of Stećci and highlighted an increasing recognition of the importance of protecting these exceptional monuments from environmental and climatic challenges.
