[Day 1] Interdisciplinary workshop and knowledge spill-over on the enhanced application of analytical methods in conservation science, UNSA, Sarajevo BiH, 29. October
Day 1 Overview
The first day of the workshop was held at the University of Sarajevo‘s Amphitheatre, and an online hybrid session was held, gathering researchers, experts, and students.
The day opened with a welcome by Prof. Dr. Nusret Drešković and Prof. Dr. Saida Ibragić, who presented the STECCI project and outlined the objectives of the workshop.
The morning sessions explored the scientific basis of cultural heritage preservation. Prof. Dr. Stefan Simon (SPK) delivered a lecture on the intersection of science and cultural heritage, followed by Prof. Dr. Snežana Radulović (UNSPMF) and Prof. Dr. Samir Đug (UNSA), who discussed the impact of climate change and environmental factors on the biodegradation of building materials.
In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Siniša Bizjak (UMAS) presented new materials and techniques in restoration and conservation, while Asst. Prof. Krešimir Bosnić introduced emerging technologies and their potential impact on preservation practices. The program concluded with Dr. Marta Anghelone (UAA), who presented analytical approaches in conservation science, including non-invasive and invasive methods such as FTIR and XRF.
