The necropolis at Gradina in Križevići near Olovo, located at the confluence of the Očevlje and Orlje mountain streams, contains 42 stećci. Historically, there were more, but the construction of the Olovo-Vareš military road in 1914 led to the removal of several stećci for bridge building, with remnants of a decorated sljemenjak and two sanduks found after the bridge’s demolition.
Currently, the necropolis features six slabs, six chests, 29 glabled roof stećci with a plinth, and one double gabled roof stećak. All are crafted from limestone, with 10 displaying decorative elements but none bearing epitaphs. Common motifs include spirals, rosettes, twisted ribbons, stars, and representations of a hand with a spear and a horseman.
Notable among the monuments is a rare double gabled roof stećak designed for two individuals, made from a single monolith and oriented west-east. The most adorned monument is a tall glabled roof stećak, decorated on all sides with intricate designs, including a seven-pointed rosette and spirals, alongside grape clusters and zigzag lines creating visual depth. This impressive stećak is nearly 2.5 meters long and 130 centimeters high.
The necropolis sits on Gradina hill, likely a prehistoric settlement site from the Bronze or Iron Age, and the stećci now rest partially sunken in the shade of a grove. Significantly, the design of the most ornate sljemenjak appears on the 10 convertible Bosnian marka banknote. Overall, this necropolis is among the most beautiful and significant in Bosnia, notable for its exceptional craftsmanship and ornamentation.
