Day 3 Overview

The final day of the workshop focused on practical applications of analytical methods in conservation science, combining theory with hands-on demonstrations.

The morning began with Dr. Farkas Pintér (UAA) presenting the second part of The Role of Phase Analyses and Microscopy in Conservation Science, exploring optical and electron microscopy (OM, SEM-EDS) through theoretical and case study examples. This was followed by parallel practical demonstrations: one on microscopy and SEM-EDS led by UAA, and another on ultrasonic pulse velocity testing (UPV) and FTIR spectroscopy led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Simon and Dr. Abdelrhman Fahmy (SPK).

The afternoon continued with repeat demonstration sessions, allowing participants to gain direct experience with the techniques presented. The workshop concluded with a discussion session, key takeaways, and closing remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. Nusret Drešković and Prof. Dr. Saida Ibragić, followed by the distribution of certificates and evaluation forms, marking the successful completion of the event with contributions from all STECCI partners.
