The call for abstracts is now open 1st STECCI Conference: Preserving Cultural Heritage in Times of Climate Change
to be held on 25th – 27th September 2025, at the University of Applied Arts Vienna
The EU Horizon STECCI research project, launched in 2023, is committed to creating sustainable, innovative strategies for protecting Europe’s cultural heritage. The project focuses on stećci, tombstones in the Balkans, and ways to safeguard them from the effects of climate change and related threats.
The conference will present preliminary findings and results of the interdisciplinary research group. Additionally, it will offer scholars from various scientific disciplines—including conservation, environmental sciences, life sciences, tourism, social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities—the opportunity to present research related to cultural heritage conservation beyond stone conservation.
We invite international researchers to submit abstracts by 15 May 2025 on the following topics:
- Climate change impacts and vulnerability assessment of tangible heritage
- Advanced methodologies and environmentally sustainable solutions in heritage conservation
- Social and economic impact of climate change on cultural heritage
- Digitalization of cultural heritage
