The Digital Heritage Summit 2026 began with a Europeana-focused opening programme dedicated to the Europeana Network Association (ENA) and its role in strengthening Europe’s digital cultural heritage community.
The session, titled “Building Cultural Bridges, Shaping Shared Futures: The Power of the Europeana Network Association Community,” introduced the work of ENA as a network of more than 6,000 professionals from across cultural heritage, research, education, technology, policy, and creative sectors. The programme highlighted how Europeana supports access to digital cultural heritage, encourages cross-border cooperation, and connects institutions and professionals through shared communities, task forces, ambassadors, and country groups.
Speakers presented the wider Europeana ecosystem, including the role of ENA communities, the European Data Space for Cultural Heritage, AI-related initiatives, communication activities, and education-focused engagement. Particular attention was given to the potential establishment of a Cyprus ENA group and ambassador, opening new opportunities for stronger local participation in Europeana’s European network.
As part of the opening programme of the Summit, the session provided an important space for networking, exchange, and future collaboration, setting the tone for discussions on digital heritage, accessibility, knowledge sharing, and the role of connected European communities in shaping the future of cultural heritage.
