The final day of the STECCI Summer Academy focused on connecting cultural heritage with education, innovation and sustainable tourism, exploring how stećci can inspire contemporary approaches to heritage interpretation and promotion.
Dr Abdelrhman Fahmy presented approaches and good practices in heritage education in Germany, highlighting ways to communicate cultural heritage and support learning through its interpretation. The session offered an international perspective on making heritage accessible and relevant to different audiences.
Dr Abdelrhman Fahmy and Vuk Radulović presented the STECCI Cultural Routes, exploring their role in connecting heritage sites, destination development and sustainable cultural tourism. Their presentation highlighted how cultural routes can bring together the stories, landscapes and communities associated with stećci while supporting their wider recognition.
The closing discussions brought together key themes from the four-day programme, reflecting on opportunities for future research, education and collaboration. Participants considered how the knowledge and ideas explored throughout the Academy could inform future initiatives.
The Summer Academy concluded with a certificate ceremony and closing remarks, marking four days of shared learning and exchange dedicated to the cultural significance and future of stećci.
