STECCI Summer Academy 2 – Kick off with the European Days of Conservation Science and Arts

The STECCI project officially launched Summer Academy 2 on May 15th 2026 through the European Days of Conservation Science and Arts, bringing together students, researchers, heritage professionals, artists, and local communities in Sarajevo and Ilijaš. The opening programme highlighted the importance of climate-resilient conservation of cultural heritage, with a particular focus on monuments from all STECCI sites and the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in their protection.

The kick-off activities included lectures, interactive discussions, creative workshops, and presentations on cultural heritage values, conservation challenges, legislation, and digital heritage tools. Parallel educational programmes were organised in primary and secondary schools in Ilijaš, where pupils explored heritage conservation through art workshops, VR experiences, and participatory activities designed to encourage awareness and responsibility towards cultural heritage preservation.

Summer Academy 2 is organised within the Horizon Europe project STECCI – Stone Monument Ensembles and the Climate Change Impact, coordinated by the University of Sarajevo, and continues throughout July 2026 with hands-on conservation training, regional and EU-level discussions, and public engagement activities.
